Stories and Traditions is an exhibition highlighting artwork by Native American artists in the Mid-Atlantic area of Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania which include the indigenous peoples of the Piscataway, Lumbee, Pamunkey, Mattaponi, Chickahominy, Nanticoke and Pocomoke. As we shift into the Fall (Harvest) and Winter (Storytelling/Reflection) seasons much of the nation observes commercialized holidays. What are the stories and traditions of native peoples during this time of year. This theme will be reflected in work that may include paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography that challenge commercialized myths and include traditional artisan crafts such as ceramics, beading, jewelry, and more.
